My Story...

So it all started long ago on a hot, humid summer night when my dad took my very overdue mother to see Raider’s of the Lost Ark to try to induce labor….ok, that's a little too far back...although a true story.  I’ll save you the time;)

I grew up a happy, active kid enjoying a variety of sports, dance and horseback riding.  It wasn’t until I went to college that I had to deal with weight issues or concerns.  I was blessed to attend Colorado State University where it was easy to be active.  Heading to the mountains to hike, ski/snowboard, you name it, was all good but it didn’t make up for massive amount of calories I was consuming with late night partying and eating like it was my job.  Needless to say I gained the freshman fifteen.  I later studied abroad in New Zealand and had the time of my life with treacherous hiking trips and extreme sports.  I thought these activities would help me lose weight but they were still no match for my over consumption.  As I returned from NZ I had a big dose of reality when I weighed myself for the first time in eight months.  I was shocked.  I weighed my heaviest ever.  I handled my weight gain with denial by buying a ton of bigger clothes like it was no big deal.  I obviously knew that I needed to lose weight.  I started working out at the gym a bit more regularly and trying to eat healthier.  Some of the pounds came off but not all of them.  I carried my “fun times” around with me into my late 20’s.

A couple years after college I worked a job covering the entire U.S. & Canada.  I traveled extensively Monday-Friday in and out of small hotels not knowing whether they’d have a gym to use or not.  If they did, often times I wouldn’t use it because the equipment was lacking or I was there at odd times.

Then one fateful night I was watching an infomercial for Turbo Jam and little did I know just how my life would change.  I took the risk to order it and brought those dvds with me everywhere.  I no longer had the excuse of travel, time or lack of equipment.  I fell in love with the trainer (Chalene Johnson) the music, moves and most of all RESULTS!  My go-to workout used to be running but my body was so used to it that it didn’t really cause any change.  We like what we are good at, and we shy away from what’s more difficult, but that’s why this new home workout was so effective for me.  I saw that Beachbody (the company who released Turbo Jam) was coming out with new programs on a fairly regular basis.  I figured if this one worked, why not try another?  I became addicted to home workouts.  Then they released Shakeology (known as The Healthiest Meal of the Day).  I tried that and became hooked on it.  Now over the years I had tried everything out there at one point or another (even that ab belt that sent little shocks to make you tighten your abs--embarrassing that I bought it but I did and don’t tell me you weren’t curious to try it too, lol).  Shakeology was a game changer for me (for more info why I’m obsessed with it- see my Shakeology tab).  At this point I was doing the workouts and drinking their shake daily.  I was a walking advocate for Beachbody products.  Eventually I learned about the coaching opportunity, and despite my own hesitations, I became a coach (all while still working my full-time job).  I missed many precious moments with my son while traveling on the road, but I was able to leave my job, and with the coaching opportunity I can now be home with my boys while still incorporating my passion for health and fitness.

Since becoming a coach, I was able to slim down for my wedding, and rebound after having two kids.  I am not perfect, but I try to do the best I can each day.  It’s all about finding balance in life.

Ok way too much about me; I’d LOVE to learn more about you!  Let’s connect...email, fb, instagram, pinterest, you name it...let’s chat!
