Earthing / Grounding
Ever notice that when you go to the beach and put your feet in the sand you are instantly ready to just chill out? Well, that’s what this is all about.
You see our bodies are made up of electrically charged atoms. (I know, stay with me.) This makes our cells kind of like batteries. Well, you know how batteries need to be recharged? So do you. Our bodies have electrical signals flowing through our nervous system allowing us to function. Pretty cool, huh? It is except for our “batteries” start to lose their charge faster over time when we don’t take care of them properly. When we spend too much time on electronic devices, staying cooped up inside or in our cars, we start to build up a positive (not in a good way) charge. Remember batteries have the (+) and (-) so we want to have a nice balance of the two. So how do we fix it? Enter the almighty Earth. The Earth gives off negative electrons which would be great for us however we don’t walk around barefoot anymore like we used to. Our rubber-soled shoes block us from receiving them. Long story short scientists have found that this has had a major impact on our health over time. So in an effort to help balance out our bodies people started grounding/earthing practices. By kicking off your shoes and walking around barefoot in the grass or sand you can reap many benefits such as:
Increased Immune System
Decrease in Stress/Anxiety
Better Sleep
Decrease in Inflammation
Reduce Blood Pressure
Increase in natural energy
Increased Healing
You can see the benefits are well worth kicking off your shoes. You can also ground by getting those hands dirty. Yep garden without gloves, I dare you. And for those of you who also live somewhere that winter seems to last about half the year there are indoor grounding tools like mats and sheets that you can use if walking in the snow isn’t up your alley.
Note to Self: Walk around outside barefoot when you can and take care of your “batteries.”
